Pelebe
Description
Long relegated to the unflattering role of simple production of raw materials, such as cotton, Africa has been trying for several years to break this reductive image thanks to the emergence of a new generation of talented, contemporary and uninhibited stylists.
It is in this dynamic that we created the PELEBE brand, a possible answer to anyone who wonders what African fashion looks like today, in this case Ivorian.
Pelebe is a ready-to-wear clothing brand or universal Haute Couture.
A contemporary vision of chic and urban designed by Africans. Why Pelebe? Pelebe is a Senufo first name (an ethnic group from the North of Côte d'Ivoire which means fusion of brothers). A melting pot of culture-fashion, and in order to promote our African identity, we thought it would be interesting to exploit this "fusion of brothers" as part of our activity.
PELEBE is first and foremost the middle name of fashion designer Zak Koné (creator of the concept) who inherited it from his grandfather. Following many family adventures more than 40 years ago, his grandfather was banished from his brothers. Sad, abandoned and wearing only his cotton coat, he died naked and humiliated... Today, PELEBE returns in the form of a butterfly to clothe us
